About me…

Lets see.  I am a wife and mother first and foremost.  Besides photography, I love to quilt and sew (wish I had more time to do both), watch comedies, my favorite show ever is “Friends” and I am love with “Big Brother.”

Photography was one of those things that I always had an interest in, but did not realize I could do.  I honestly thought it was a man’s profession.  There were no photographers in my family or in our circle of friends.  As I got older, I used to think how fun it would be to BE a photographer.  I never in a million years thought I would be doing this as a profession.

I vividly recall the day I told my husband Mike, “I want to be a photographer!” It was May 2, 2001.  I turned 24 that day and was sitting amoung packed up boxes as we were moving from Groton, CT to Kittery, ME.  From that point on, my life changed.

I took courses through the New York Institute of Photography and classes at local community colleges.  At this point, I still thought that it was a man’s profession.  It was not until we moved to Hawaii early fall 2004 that my new neighbor Tammy gave me the push that I needed.

In January 2005, the doors to Erika Mounts Photography were opened.  It has been such an exciting ride with meeting people from all over the world and photographing many families for a once in a lifetime vacation.  It has also been a great pleasure to photograph many of our military families either coming to or leaving Hawaii on military orders or visiting the islands while on leave from fighting in Irag.

I love what I do and would not change it for the world.  I hope to continue to be given the opportunity to work with many more families during special times in their lives and creating works of art that will be treasured for years to come.

Thanks for stopping by,
